Overview

For attorneys at the start of their legal careers, the choice of a law firm is an investment in their professional future.

At Neal Gerber Eisenberg, we understand the importance of this decision and are committed to recruiting and mentoring practices that honor the trust that has been placed in us. While we demand much of our attorneys, we also recognize the importance of helping new associates acquire a focused set of skills in the context of a specific discipline. The size, breadth and diversity of our practice, along with our sophisticated and diverse client base, accelerate the learning curve for our new associates.
 

Mentoring. Associate mentoring is cultivated at every level of the firm. The firm assigns two mentors to each incoming associate – an associate mentor and a partner mentor. Each mentor has designated responsibilities designed to acquaint incoming associates with our personalities and practice groups, as well as with the daily details that come with practicing law at NGE. Those designated mentors also take responsibility for assuring that the incoming associate is getting an appropriate level and amount of work and that he or she is familiar with all of the tools and support available to help him or her grow and develop as a professional. The firm is fortunate to have a wide array of partners and associates who are eager to volunteer for such mentoring opportunities and who take the time necessary to assure a smooth transition into the firm.

Career Development. We also recognize that early career choices need not be set in stone. Professional and legal interests will most certainly evolve as associates gain experience and responsibility for client matters. At NGE, we avoid rigid departmentalization. We regularly assemble cross-disciplinary teams from our 19 practice areas to devise customized, innovative solutions for our clients. This collaborative, integrated approach is a hallmark of our firm, it fosters excellent client service, as well as professional and personal relationships that are key to a rewarding legal career.
