Neal Gerber Eisenberg is proud of our continued partnership with the Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund of Illinois (HLSF). For over 20 years, the HLSF has awarded nearly a half million dollars in scholarships and fellowship opportunities to Latino law students based on merit, financial need, and commitment to the Latino community. This year, NGE is supporting Gabriel Lara and Ricardo Santiago, two outstanding law students at the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Gabriel is a third-year law student and is in Kent’s Business Law Certificate Program and Financial Markets and Compliance Certificate Program. He graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. Gabriel was born in Mexico, raised in Chicago, and is a proud graduate of Chicago Public Schools. He has volunteered at numerous organizations, including the Chicago Public Schools Career and Technical Education Pre-Law Advisory Council, the Louisiana Civil Justice Center, the Legal Assistance Foundation, Kent’s Immigration Society, and Minds Matter.
Ricardo is a first-year law student who graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Media, and Theater, cum laude. He was inspired to pursue a legal career after seeing lawyers provide pro bono representation for DACA applicants, and he is interested in practicing labor and employment law, public interest, and consumer law. Ricardo volunteers at the Self-Help Web Center at Richard J. Daley Center where he assists pro se litigants. He has also volunteered with the Orleans Public Defenders Office as a law clerk.
