NGE recently advised Marathon Capital, LLC, in its recent strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The NGE team was led by Partners Michael B. Gray and Cristina W. DeMento.

Marathon Capital is the world’s largest independent advisory bank serving the global sustainable energy, technology and infrastructure markets. SMBC is a component of SMBC Group, one of the world’s top global financial groups with $2 trillion in consolidated assets and headquartered in Tokyo.

Under the terms of the SCA, SMBC will obtain a minority equity investment in Marathon Capital. Marathon Capital will use the investment proceeds to accelerate its growth and expansion. SMBC and Marathon Capital will both benefit from expanded reach and service offerings. The two will provide their clients with the strategic and financial support they need to reach their global energy transition goals.
