Olivia Luk Bedi, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group, was among a group of thought leaders consulted for the Law360 article “Will the Real Patent Challengers Please Stand Up?” The article explored proposals released on April 20 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in advance of rulemaking changes by the agency.
Bedi expressed that the agency has proposed changes to prevent extreme challenges and protect patent owners. A way to protect small companies that lack resources would be to adopt the proposed changes that would allow tiny startups to escape challenges.
