Alfred reflected on cybersecurity and data privacy over the past year: “In 2023, companies and privacy professionals across the U.S. were gearing up for a new patchwork of comprehensive state privacy laws that would rain down a seemingly endless number of complicated compliance requirements. While seven states enacted new comprehensive privacy legislation this year, we saw more harmonization across states, rather than divergence. And although each state law retains its own unique characteristics, 2023 demonstrated that businesses can generally look to the requirements of the CCPA as a guiding light for achieving substantial compliance in other states.”
