Kevin represents buyers and sellers of commercial, mixed-use, multiunit residential, and industrial properties nationwide.  His experience includes assisting clients such as real estate investment trusts and other real estate investors close deals for both single properties and portfolios, as well as guiding non-real estate focused businesses navigating all manners of real estate issues.  Kevin frequently advises landlords and tenants in complex leasing matters involving office buildings, retail spaces and industrial properties.  Kevin’s varied experience enables him to tailor legal advice and strategy for each individual client — focusing on the issues that are particularly important for that client’s business and its industry.

Kevin also provides legal counsel to companies concerning financial restructuring and bankruptcy issues.  He routinely advises secured lenders concerning formal bankruptcy proceedings and commercial foreclosures involving a variety of income-producing properties.  Kevin also has significant experience assisting clients in identifying and evaluating defenses to preference actions. 

Before joining the firm, Kevin worked as a judicial extern for The Honorable Michael M. Mihm, U.S. District Court Judge for the Central District of Illinois.  He also was a PILI Fellow for Health & Disability Advocates – SSI Homeless Outreach Project in Chicago.  This additional experience has broadened his perspective, allowing for stronger advocacy on behalf of the firm’s clients.

  • Represented Equity Residential, one of the largest publicly traded owners and operators of high-quality multi-family residential properties in the United States, in connection with its $964 million acquisition of an 11-property multi-family residential/retail portfolio (located in Colorado, Georgia and Texas) from affiliates of Blackstone Real Estate Strategies.
